FROZEN RABBIT TOUR CD
June 18, 2008

Hi there...

DAT HELL ships next week. The covers are being sent from the printer, and the mastering is completed.

I have 12 copies of the Frozen Rabbit tour cd. These will be available on a first come first serve basis...I know there are not very many, and I expect them to be gone today. Please email me before ordering to secure a copy. If you miss out, I will let you know, so we dont have to mess around with paypal refunds, and paying paypal fees for nothing.

I hope to have more of these in the next while. They are very scarce, numbered editions, which feature two lengthy tracks - one by Frozen Rabbit, entitled "Slow Endless Boy" as well as a track by Connect i cut" who joined us on tour.

The cds are 15, including shipping. Let me know when you inquire if you already ordered DAT HELL, and your cd will be shipped with that cd.

Also in the works, after a plethora of requests for it, is the full length version of 26,000 by Frozen Rabbit, which will be available some time in August for a low price. This is the 72 minute version of the song which appears on the debut Frozen Rabbit album.

Allen Jaeger has sent me a proof of the artwork for the new KONE cd, and it looks amazing. The album is very near completion, and will be released in July, on schedule.

You can order DAT HELL or the new KONE cd for 20 dollars, including shipping.

So remember! Ask first before ordering the tour cds....I will respond to all requests, and I wish you good luck - these will go very fast.

UPDATE!
June 7, 2008

Hi Everyone....

A sneak peak of some new Kone material is available to listen to on the Phil Western Myspace page...the song is called "Cold Sore Music" I know - it should be on the Kone Myspace page....I spaced on Myspace

www.myspace.com/philwestern

The show in Philadelphia was much fun! This email is being written from Bob Hope airport in Burbank, where I am waiting for my flight to start boarding to Vancouver...if my plane crashes, then....well, bye.

DAT HELL is going to be mailed out when I return - I am still waiting for the mastering to be completed, but it will definitely be done by the time I get back...that is on June 15th. The artwork is in print now, and will be here waiting for me upon returning, so I expect things to move swiftly once I return.

KONE is coming along nicely....I am excited about these releases, as well as the new Beehatch album, which is also completed and will be touring Europe in October.

The current sale for the combo of DAT HELL and the KONE album will end on JUNE 10

If you still want to get these items for their combined price of 35 dollars, please do so before then. After that, they will be 20 dollars each.

There will be a show in Vancouver at Open Studios on June 14th, for those in the area. Most of the new Kone songs will be featured in the show.

Many thanks for everyones continued support! The Record Company needs you and salutes you!

FLOATPOINT AND KONE - A FEW COPIES MADE...
May 27, 2008

Hey everyone -

There are a handful of copies of Floatpoint and Kone - Cirrhotic Psychotic up for grabs. These copies are the reserve for the upcoming shows in Philadelphia and Vancouver, and will be available here for a few days if you missed out the first time. Floatpoint - 25$, Kone 20$

DAT HELL is in mastering and the artwork is being printed...I hope to have these mailed out before I go to Vancouver on the 6th, but it will depend on whether the artwork can be printed in time. If not, they will be mailed out as soon as I return.

KONE is almost done! The special for both cds is still on, so if you are planning to get these, get them both now for the reduced combined price of 35 dollars. This includes shipping, and will give you almost 3 hours of new music!

DAT HELL TO BE CD-R, KONE TO BE SILVER CD
May 13, 2008

Hi everybody

Well, after looking into doing both of these releases on silver discs, I got a price quote for doing DAT HELL that was really way above what is feasible for this release. Basically, DAT HELL is alot more costly to make due to the fact that it is a double cd, and also will have a 6 page booklet in it. So the costs are way up, but the interest in DAT HELL is reserved to the most loyal of my customers. I dont expect presales to be very high on DAT HELL, but with KONE, its another story. KONE will definitely, without question, be manufactured by BLRR and they will be silver discs. DAT HELL will be done at the same manufacturing place I have done all of my releases previously, simply because they will make as many as I need, which will be based on how many orders come in from you, the loyal customer.

SO what this means, is that if you pre-ordered the combination of DAT HELL and KONE, and you are unhappy about this development, email me and I will refund you your money. I dont want anyone to feel let down. However I can vouch for the quality of the manufacturing that will be done with DAT HELL and it promises to be an awesome package. Here is a tracklisting for what you will be getting!

CD 1: 1989 to 1995

Pubic Public pt 1 and 3, The Party's Over, Snackin on Acid, Big Bud, Horsey, Barb, Creaker, Digi Armpit, TimPhunck, Passover, Corrections

CD 2: 1995 - 2003

Shimmer, Out there, Spank, Leonard, All of us dead, Stains, Sweeping Source, Simpleton demo, Interspazz, Easier, Get Some Rest, Quando, Ma, Its ok if your bells are digital, You make, Indojam

There will be lots of little nuggets of weirdness dotted throughout.

So, the same deal is still active - 35 for both DAT HELL and Kone. 20 each. Send money through paypal to musicatdhsound@gmail.com.

Scheduled release dates - DAT HELL - First week of June, KONE - early July.

Thanks everyone!

KONE - ON DADDY'S FARM
May 11, 2008

Someone asked "well, if Cirrhotic Psychotic bit our face off, what will On Daddy's Farm bite off?" On Daddys Farm will bite your balls off.

RECD 007 AND 008
May 9, 2008

Hello to all Record Company people!!

The task of transferring DATs is complete, and it is now time to make an announcement!

First, DAT HELL - a collection of mental breakdowns from behind the Yellow Door will be a double cd. Even with a double cd, there is a ton of material that will be left out, perhaps to be released later as a companion disc to this one. I have been as selective as possible, while trying to make the cd a historical document. There will be extensive liner notes detailing the chronology of the music, where it was recorded, who was involved, the circumstances, etc. I think it is going to be an exciting release, although some of the older stuff on the discs is REALLY old. Kind of funny at times, but I will let you guys be the judges of that.

Following the release of DAT HELL will be the second Kone album, currently in production, entitled ON DADDY'S FARM (working title was meow meow) This is going to be a perfect companion to the existing Kone album, full of lots of crazy, acidic and spaztic music best avoided by epileptics.

During the pre-order period, these discs can be bought as a set for 35 dollars, which will include, as always, shipping. They will be individually priced at 20 dollars each. Due to a new relationship with Beta Lactam Ring records, these discs will be manufactured as "silver discs" and not as CDRs which has been an issue that has come up recently, and a solution has been found for. This is also exciting news.

DAT HELL will be released in June, and Kone will be shipped in July. The preorder special will expire the week of the DAT HELL mailouts, and an email will be sent at that time to alert everyone. Feel free to preorder both, or one or the other of these discs, and ensure you receive a copy. These will be strictly limited releases just like the other ones, and will be made-to-order, in order to avoid a massive overstock.

In other news, talks are in the works currently for a new Frozen Rabbit release to possibly be released to coincide with the BEEHATCH tour in Europe and the US which is being planned for October. Stay tuned for more news on that. BEEHATCH has been receiving positive reviews, and a second BEEHATCH album is also in the works, with a release planned for October 2008 as well. In other words, there is a lot going on!!

There you go! That's it for now. Many many thanks to those of you who continue to keep supporting this label!

Also - the final shipment of Floatpoint mailouts should have reached all destinations by now, except for possibly some international orders, which seem to take quite a while sometimes. I hope everyone has been enjoying that release too.

Cheers!

THE RECORD COMPANY PRESENTS.......
April 27, 2008

RECD 007 - DAT HELL
RECD 008 - KONE - Meow Meow

Summer is coming and the studio is getting hot over here! As you all know, Floatpoint is SOLD OUT as of 11:59pm tonight. As well, DARK FEATURES is SOLD OUT

Here is some news!

After a painstaking process involving the real time transfer of over a hundred DAT tapes to a hard drive, it has become apparent that a bunch of very weird and cool stuff is sitting unheard, and should see the light of day. So it is with pleasure that we announce the release of DAT HELL - a collection of unreleased mental breakdowns from behind the Yellow Door. This collection will feature extensive liner notes detailing the different pieces of music, where they were made, and who was responsible. Years covered will be 1990 to 2008. View it as a little slice of history, if you will.

To be released simultaneously along with DAT HELL, is a new release by KONE, with working title of Meow Meow, which will feature a brand new batch of electronic goodies, with album art by the wonderful Allen Jaeger. It promises to be a fun filled psychotic break for all involved!
Watch for news in your INBOX regarding the release dates on these discs.

Also in the works is a second Beehatch album, which is coming together really beautifully so far, as well as plans for a North American and European tour. Stay tuned for details on that!

Now - some people have been contacting me about the fact that they have gotten CDR's with the Floatpoint, 1221, Kone and 4am releases. These discs are infact CDRs manufactured at a professional facility, but unfortunately, they will not replicate the other types of cds for orders less than 1000. If anyone has suggestions for us to get around this minimum order requirement for cd replication, we would very much appreciate it, as I prefer replication to duplication any day of the week....the reality though, is that we are selling, at most, about 300 copies of each title. What I am trying to do here is keep offering new music, and to provide as professional a product as is possible. However, all customers should be aware of this detail. I do not want anyone to feel "ripped off" - this is a problem I am actively looking for a solution to. Also, if anyone anywhere has any problems whatsoever with the functionality of their cds that they receive from me over here, please let me know, and I will send a replacement immediately. I have kept a prudent reserve of all titles in order to accommodate this possibility.

SO! Thats it for now....things will be quiet from around here while heavy writing mode continues. An email will go out when the store re-opens for the new titles. (The store remains open for all of the still-available catalog items - Worlds End, Frozen Rabbit, and Kone)

thanks to everyone for keeping this ball rolling!!

FLOATPOINT SOLD OUT!!
April 23, 2008

Yep. They seem to be gone. I did the last of the mailouts today and there are a scant few left. What this means, is that I will stop offering Floatpoint for sale as of SATURDAY APRIL 26th I doubt I will be repressing this one, which means it will remain a limited release of 250 copies, like the others. So thanks everyone for helping me out with this one!! If you are still waiting on your cd, it is on its way as of today, I promise - there were about 50 mailed out. ok, thats it for now....

pw

FLOATPOINT MAILOUTS!!!
April 19, 2008

Hi people. Im tired today. Guess why?

Almost 200 copies of the Floatpoint CD were mailed out today!! That is most of you! Another 50 to go. The remaining copies will go out on Tuesday. Everyone should be getting their copies by the end of next week. Sorry for the wait. I had a bit of trouble with this one. Had an unreliable shipper for the double cd jewel cases, and seemed to keep running out of mailers. Also the printing on the front cover was 3 days late, but for some weird reason, they gave me about 500 too many. So thats...good I guess?

Anyway, I hope you like it!

Also, for those who are unaware, there is a 1 hour FREE download of a live show I did with Longwalkshortdock in Vancouver available from www.philwestern.net

Enjoy!

ps: new customers! if you received this email, it is because you joined my mailing list by ordering a cd. If you wish to be removed, just let me know!

TRC RELEASES UPDATE
April 14, 2008

Hi Everyone!

Thanks to the support of all of you, as of today 1221 and, as previously announced, 4am are both completely sold out and will not be repressed. Those who ordered copies with their Floatpoint order will receive theirs, so not to worry. Kone is down to the last few copies. It will be sold out very soon. There will NOT be a repress of this cd unless something extraordinary happens.

Floatpoint is being mailed out this week.

A new album is in the works. Watch for an announcement on it over the next month or so. Most titles released through The Record Company will continue to be fairly limited edition releases. Many thanks again for all your support on this stuff!

Also, limited numbers of Dark Features are still available, as well as the usual catalog items such as Frozen Rabbit and Worlds End.

A Beehatch tour of Europe and the US for the fall is in the planning stages. Beehatch, the album, should be arriving on doorsteps in the next two weeks.

Cheers!

FLOATPOINT - SLIGHT DELAY
April 12, 2008

Hi Everyone

Well, the good news is, I have a stack of Floatpoint cds here in front of me...the bad news is, the front cover insert will not be ready for me to pickup until Tuesday due to a manufacturing hiccup. This means mailouts will be two days later than I had planned. I am very sorry for that - Apparently the printing company were waiting for me to approve the proof on the cover, and they never thought to call me to ask why I hadn't contacted them.
Grrr.

So, expect to see the cd in your mailbox by the end of this week, or the beginning of next week. My apologies for the delay.

The mastering sounds awesome on this, thanks to Frankie Pett.

Happy Floating....

TRC NEWSLETTER - MARCH 2008
March 11, 2008

Hello Record Company customers!!

By now, most of you should have received your copies of Kone - Cirrhotic Psychotic. The response for this cd has been very positive, and it has been great and gratifying to see that people have enjoyed it!

There are some big announcements to make this week!

First of all, The Escapist and Dark Features reissues are now available!

The Escapist, is a limited run of 50 signed and numbered copies of the original cd! All artwork, disc face, etc is identical to the original. There are also 10 unsigned copies available for those who prefer their cd not to be marked up.

Dark Features is available in a run of 100, also signed and numbered, and is a reissue of the original Record Company release. This was the first release of the label, and bears the catalog number Recd001.

Both of the discs will run the usual 20 dollars.

Also, I am very excited to announce the reissue of the classic Beam Error cd by Floatpoint! This will be a DOUBLE CD

The first disc will be the original Beam Error album, remastered, as well as some unreleased Floatpoint songs from the same period. The unreleased material is work that was done for a second, aborted LP.

The second disc will feature additional unreleased Floatpoint songs, as well as the entire 45 minute "acid jam", featuring Dwayne Goettel, Dan Handrabur and myself - a very cool rare gem, and the song "Witch Hunt" by Dwayne and myself. This bonus cd will be a proper album in its own right, but included in this new package. The artwork for the original Beam Error cd is being reinterpreted by Simon Paul, and liner notes have been written by Dan and myself, making this a unique reissue package which will be fun for fans of Floatpoint, and Dwayne Goettel alike!

Because this is a double cd it will be slightly more - 25 dollars...this is due to a couple of things. First of all, because I do small runs here, I pay a lot more than if I was making 1000 cds. Also, as usual, postage is included in all of our pricing, and a double cd will cost more to ship. Hopefully this slight increase for this particular item does not come as a shock to you guys.

Floatpoint - Beam Error (special edition) will be Recd006
The best part is that now people wont be able to sell the cd for 80 dollars anymore!

Order any of these titles as you like, but be aware that Floatpoint will not actually ship until mid-may. The Escapist and Dark Features will ship in two weeks time. Also, 4am, Cirrhotic Psychotic and 1221 are all available again as well. See full price list below.

As always, THANK YOU for your continued support of The Record Company. It has been a sincere pleasure to watch this little idea grow into a full time business over the past 6 months. Many many thanks to everyone.

KONE UPDATE
February 14, 2008

Ok, so the first big news is that Kone mailouts will begin on Thursday of next week. Mastering has been completed by Frankie Pett, and he did a great job as usual. The main change with Kone at this point, is that it looks like it will be released in a limited quantity due to less than expected sales on the release. So I chose to prudently manufacture more copies than were ordered, but will likely not repress it, which will mean it will become unavailable after the first run runs out. The main reason for this is that I have decided to repress Dark Features and The Escapist. Both of these titles have been going for rather large sums of money on ebay and other online sites, so I want to make them available again at affordable prices. They will probably be going for 15 dollars, and will be available in a month or so. I am repressing fairly small numbers on these two discs, as well as trying to secure the rights for a repress on Float Point, another CD that seems to be in demand. I will make an announcement when these repressings are available - DO NOT SEND MONEY FOR THEM NOW!!!

If you are still on the fence about getting Kone, get off of it. This CD is mean, and wants to bite your face off.

Many of you have pre ordered your copy, and for that, I want to say thank you again! This will be the last announcement regarding Kone, and I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say about it.

Also, Beehatch is available for pre order now from the Lens Records website. It is selling for an impossibly cheap 10 dollars, and includes a poster.

lensrecords.com/detail.aspx?ID=56

Many thanks to all of you who supported The Record Company over these last few months! Things are gonna be quiet around here for a while, as a bit of burnout has settled in. Time to regroup, do some travelling, and get inspired for another release! Also, a Beehatch tour seems to be imminent in the not too distant future.

Thanks to all!

KONE UPDATE
February 2, 2008

Its done! You guys are gonna like this one! This is an album of Download-y, Plateau-y sickness with a dash of psychosis thrown in for good measure. Two bonus tracks are now being included. All those who pre-ordered - THANK YOU! To the rest of you - you might wanna make sure you don't miss this one!

KONE / BEEHATCH INFO
January 17, 2008

Hello to all loyal Record Company listeners!

1221 has arrived at most peoples doorsteps, and it looks like the response has been quite positive. Happy to report that this cd will, infact be on the Itunes music server within the next month or so - it takes them a while to process and upload new albums (unless you happen to be Justin Timberlake)

Beehatch is being mastered, and a deal has been signed. It is coming out on Lens records. The tracklist is as follows:

1. First Song, 2. Facing up to the Facts, 3. Tis, 4. God is so Good, God is so Dub, 5. Warm and Fuzzy, 6. Something too, 7. Kurt Said to me, 8. I think Im Chinese, 9. Sad for Mark, 10. Phils Zombie Party, 11. On Crested Isles, 12. You say Wanna Go, 13. I see your light dying, 14. To be Present

Also, Kone is completed, and the tracklist is as follows:

1. Ke Bop bop, 2. Igors Vagina, 3. Spare Part Heart, 4. Movies on my house, 5. Terrible News, 6. Gooble Gobble, 7. Whoa War Wow, 8. Shoehorn (minimal mix), 9. Biraq Osama, 10. Tag, 11. Mound (fully conscious mix)

Orders for Kone, as most of you know, can be placed here, at the DHsound paypal portal. The cd is 20 dollars, but if you are a European customer, kindly add 2.00, as I got killed a bit on 1221 with the Euro postage. Thank you.

Also 2 shows seem to be in the near confirmed stage. One in Seattle in March, and one in Philadelphia in May. Since I still havent recieved airline confirmation, Im not announcing them yet, but when I know, you will know.

Kone is likely going to be the last release for a while, as I will be focussing on the touring with Beehatch, and generally regrouping and screwing my head back on after an extremely busy winter.

Your support for these releases has been absolutely and totally appreciated!

Orders are now being taken for the Feb 21st release of Cirrhotic Psychotic by Kone. It will feature 10 new songs. Cds are 20 dollars, including shipping, although we are asking European customers to add 2 dollars for additional shipping as I kind of got killed on the 1221 mailout.

TRC MAILING LIST NEWSLETTER
December 14, 2007

Hello to all Record Company supporters!

The Live cd has a name now - it is going to be called 1221 (no, there wont be any Rush covers on the cd!)

Many orders were received by people who had not made reservations. Likewise, many reservations are still unclaimed. Our new strategy is to close ordering on the cd on Dec 20th at midnight. This will enable me to order materials specific to the amount of cd orders received. So, if you haven't ordered your copy yet, please do so by Dec 20th to ensure that you receive a copy.

The album I am making with Mark Spybey is completed! All work was done using file sharing, and the album is an hour of very nice strangeness. I believe it is being released on a label called Lens Records, and while I havent heard the music the label puts out, apparently they are very into doing deluxe packaging, and they seem like very very nice people over there.

You are now, as you may have guessed, on the Record Company mailing list! Please just let me know if you want to be removed from the list, and stop receiving these email notifications. I will be sending them out randomly to all of you to let you know the goings on of the label, and what releases and shows are planned. At this point, a tentative booking for the Spring is in place for a show in the Philadelphia area. More details will follow on that.

Many of you who receive this email have already ordered your copy of 1221. I want to express my gratitude to you for your support. Thank you!!
Here's to a 2008 of great times, and especially, great music!

LIVE SHOW & LTD EDITION CD
December 1, 2007

From the Litany Forum - posted by: citizensmurf...

I'm assuming all who ordered 4am got this email, but for those who didn't (shame on you) heads up for this one:
"I will be playing a show in Los Angeles on December 21st. The show will be recorded, and I will be making it available on cd in a very limited edition of 100 copies. These cds will be 20 dollars each,in jewel case with artwork by Simon Paul (Download/Plateau), and will be available immediately following the show. I debated whether or not to do this release, as I did not want to seem overly opportunistic, but many people contacted me and expressed an interest in having this material, and so I am doing it. Most of the live material will be exclusive to the show, so it will effectively be an album of new material except for maybe one or two songs.
In late January/Early February, I will release the new Kone album, and will send out another mailout then. Also watch for a new release by myself and Mark Spybey (Zoviet France/DVOA) in the spring.
If you want to reserve a copy of the Dec 21st show, please send me an email to this email address with the heading "LIVE CD" - It will be first come first serve. Dont send money yet - Just reserve your copy. When the 100 copies are spoken for, I will let everyone know. The week of the show, I will send the 100 buyers the go-ahead to purchase their copy." The address is musicatdhsound at gmail dot com.

FROZEN RABBIT LIVE REVIEW
May 9, 2005

Brad at Flesh Eating Ants passed this review along:

Frozen Rabbit - Vancouver BC, Blim, 2005-05-07
The show started with technical difficulties, relating to the projector used for their visuals. While Tim Hill and a few assistants figured out the issue, Phil Western improvised some drifting and flowing drones, which seemed to be created with a Roland 202. These eerie sounds flowed around the room, engulfing the audience, while setting an intensely haunting mood. Within a few minutes, the visuals came on, and I immediately realized why the elaborate transparent curtains hanging in front of the band were there. The psychedelic imagery was partially caught on several layers, creating a three dimensional effect in front of the duo. This worked much better than most of the very elaborate visual setups that I have seen, and certainly complimented the musical aspects nicely. The visual components consisted of distorted videos of what looked like scared faces, flowing video feedback, and what I would call the digital equivalent of a lava lamp. After the show, I heard that all of the video was arranged on the spot, and half of the gear on stage was used to do live mixing and editing. Musically, the show was breathtaking. They arranged the show in a way which appeared to be based off of a set list of tracks from their CD, "26,000", however there were a significant amount of changes making it appear that the two laptops on stage werenÕt used much at all, and they were relying more on their synthesizers and guitar to create the stunning environment. Judging by the look of the band, and the audience members, I wasnÕt the only one that was continually entering a trance like state during this deeply ambient set. Western and Hill built a mesmerizing environment, which seemed to enhance the way I will listen to their CD. It honestly felt to me as though they were recreating the jams that led to the existence of their album live for us. My only complaint was the lack of many improvised jams during their set, which hopefully will be included in the future. I found this to be one of the most interesting shows I've seen in Vancouver in the past 4 or 5 years, in spite of its sparse attendance. I sincerely hope that Frozen Rabbit can continue to work this sort of magic for years to come. After seeing this show, I am very tempted to make the drive to Seattle to see them again.
Jim Siegel

SITE PLANS
February 20, 2005

As you can see, I'm in the process of a redesign for the web site. I've gotten some pages completed, and others will need some time before they come online. I plan on moving the Reviews section to a top level link, instead of being hidden inside of the Discography pages.

I've done away with the Sound Clips page and replaced it with an Audio page. All the files on this page are the full tracks, but in low-fi MP3 format. This way you can get a better "feel" for the releases.

I hope you find the changes I've made helpful. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

PHIL WESTERN MP3S
February 13, 2005

Was doing a Google search on Phil to see if I could find any reviews for Frozen Rabbit - "26,000" and stumbled upon this link. This site has a bunch of Phil Western and Download tracks in MP3 format. Check it out!

Dan is sending me new content for the Outersanctum site, so please check back for further developments! New projects: Shukar and another vocal Jazz/Elektro project featuring Mara...

FROZEN RABBIT

Slightly older news (sorry for the late post).. Phil is collaborating (long distance) with Tom Ellard (Severed Heads) on material that may be released in the future.
